New Jersey Pet Waste Regulation

Pet Waste Regulations

This ordinance basically restricts pets from defecating on public property or private property, without the approval of the owner. The owner or keeper of any pet that does defecate and any public or private property must immediately pick up the feces or droppings. The feces or droppings must be discarded in an acceptable trash receptacle or flushed down an acceptable toilet.

This ordinance is designed to keep pet feces or droppings from being washed into the municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4), where it would cause pollution of our waterways.

Montgomery Township

WoodsEdge in Princeton is part of the fast-growing Montgomery Township in New Jersey
Montgomery Township School District has been ranked among the best schools in New Jersey and "the best bang for the buck" (NJ Monthly magazine), due to the high achievement of students with a relatively low spending per pupil vs. other school districts in New Jersey. Montgomery High School was the 4th ranked public high school out of 316 schools according to NJ Monthly magazine in 2006.
Montgomery is a great place to take a walk, hike or bike in an extensive pathways system throughout the Township, many off-road pathway areas are connected. While resident and commercial development continues to threaten open space resources in Central New Jersey, Montgomery has been leading the way by implementing an ambitious land preservation strategy. A key element of that Preservation plan is an extensive pathways network.
Established in 1702 by Dutch and English Settlers, first organized in 1772, and incorporated in 1798, Montgomery Township continues to combine a unique convenience of location with the lifestyle features sought by residents and businesses. Located in the southern portion of Somerset County – six miles from Princeton University and roughly half way between New York City and Philadelphia – the Township is an historic 32 square mile community with an agricultural heritage.
